A few weekends ago we went with some friends to visit a few history sites. He was a political science guy and knew a sorts of cool facts and information about the area.
Our first stop, although not a historical landmark, was a BBQ place that will go down in history as the best BBQ I have ever had!
Next we went to an old train depot that had separate doors and waiting areas labeled "colored" and "white." It was interesting to read about the information they had there. They also had some cool old phones and typewriters. They even had an old telegraph machine.
Our last stop was Montpelier. It costs a lot of money to go inside so we just checked out the grounds.
It was a fun day. It was great to have a "tour guide" that was so knowledgeable. I am glad that we are able to live here and let our girls experience and learn about our countries history.
